DEVELOPMENTS
EMERGING SKI RESORT,
SWEDEN
MHK are currently preparing
for the launch of 150 apartments and a hotel in
the epicentre of one of Sweden’s emerging
ski resorts. The project will be built in two
phases, with a completion by 2012.
As well as having a strong economy with stable
growth, Sweden is now Europe’s fourth largest
investment market. The domestic real estate market
is, according to a recent Reuters report, ‘defying
a global credit crunch’.* Sweden’s
second home market continues to grow, interest
rates remain low and the local and international
rental market is strong.
In terms of skiing, Sweden hosted the 2007 Alpine
World Cup and boasts some of Europe’s best
equipped family resorts. Significant investment
in facilities & infrastructure have attracted
new markets, as well as catalysed domestic demand,
with consistent year on year growth in resort
footfall.
We have designed and will be building premium
ski-in ski-out apartments (south facing) in the
most central location of Björnrike. The resort
is an hour away from the airport, which receives
international flights including Nielson’s
charters from London Heathrow.
We are also working closely with SkiStar PLC,
the single largest investor and owner of Scandinavian
ski resorts, on plan to continue developing Björnrike
into a primary ski destination. SkiStar have committed
to increasing facilities and lift capacity over
the next five years, as well as to improve infrastructure
and services in the resort.
